The act of filmmaking as an act of social change

Writer/director/producer Ime Etuk not only made a movie, he turned the act of making the movie into an act of social and film-industry transformation. He did this by incorporating a training program that placed under represented people in every department; ultimately he built a crew that was 70% BIPOC and women. This film and its production was a launching pad for an ever-expanding and ever-diversifying film community in Portland, Oregon.

Update “We originally set out with the intention of training 15 - 20 people–we ended up impacting over 30 lives. Just received an email from a make-up artist who is now eligible for the union (IATSE 488) and is filling out paperwork to join.  She received her qualifying days while working on Outdoor School.” -Ime Etuk
